Take Highway 59/7 north 6 miles (past Watson) and 2.2 miles west on County Road 13 to the Lac qui Parle Mission. See where the first church bell tolled in Minnesota and the site where the Bible was translated into the Dakota language. Inside, exhibits describe the missionaries and their work, the Dakota people and Joseph Renville, the man who linked their worlds. Come hear the echoes of your past. Free Return to Highway 59/7 and travel south towards Montevideo. Tucked away in a rural setting just outside Montevideo oil Highway 7 is Marie's Antiques. The store is not large but it is worth the drive to see it. The antique store is combined with her husband's art gallery and located in the middle of a huge garden where the Pederson's grow vegetables and fruit. They sell produce right on the porch with the art and antiques inside. Marie's Antiques sell everything from glassware and old books to pictures, dolls, and old tools.
If you travel east on Highway 7 just 6 miles then 5 miles South on County Road 6 you will enjoy the Swensson Farm Museum. This turn of the century 22-room brick farmhouse is situated on a 17-acre farmstead complete with 1880's timber-framed barn, grist mill remain and family burial plot. Come see the home of one of Minnesota's most "innovative immigrants." Take a visit into history. On the National Registry. Admission. Travel 5 miles north on County Road 6 back to Highway 7 and then travel east to state highway 277. Turn and travel north 2.5 miles to Busy B's Antiques which is located in an old country general store in Gluek, They'll take you back in time with all of their glassware, toys, furniture, shakers, and much more. Travel south on 277 to Maynard and catch Highway 23 on the east end of town. Stop at Corky's Antiques, located along Highway 23, or travel south to Granite Fails, in the beautiful Minnesota River Valley. Conveniently located just inside the city limits is Red Lodge Trading Post which features the finest American Indian Art of the southwest. Products for sale include kachinas, silverwork, pottery, Navajo rugs, turquoise, Ojibwa beadwork and star quilts, Plains Indian artwork merchandise, Pipestone art work and peace pipes, unique sandpaintings and more. Velkommen til The Valley Troll, a Scandinavian gift shop located only one-half block north of the Highway 212 and 23 inter-section. Watch for the Scandinavian flags proudly displayed. This unique gift shop features quality gifts from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland and also features wonderful books, greeting cards, Tom Clark gnomes, Firelight oil lamps and much more!
From Oraas County Park travel north 8 miles on Highway 59 to Prairie Mercantile, located on the south end of Clarkfield. Here are 15 merchants under one roof offering a wide selection of antiques, collectibles, giftware, hardanger, quilting pieces and supplies, craft items and more.
